Cumberland Meet, Eat and Sing
St. Andrews United Church
Nov. 13, 2003
A very successful Meet, Eat and Sing, organized by Donald Findlay, was held at St. Andrews United Church in Cumberland on Nov. 13,2003. In spite of terrible weather warnings, there was a record crowd of eager choristers----approximately 60 in all.
Contingents from the following churches attended:
St. Andrews United, Cumberland
Northwestern United, Ottawa
St. Mary's R.C., Williamstown
Rothwell United
St. Mark's Anglican, Cumberland
Conductor for the evening was Wesley Warren, Organist and Choir Master at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Ottawa, Music Director of the Gregorian Association of Canada, Lecturer in Music and Western Culture at Augustine College, Instructor in Organ at Carleton University and Organ Continuo for the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
After a luxurious Pot Luck meal, Conductor, Wesley Warren, took the choir through their paces in a series of warm up exercises before launching into three new anthems:
Blest are they - David Haas, 3 part, GIA # G-2958
Sing Alleluia - Dana Mengel, 4 part, Harold Flammer # A7448
Joy to the world/Glory to God - SAB, arr. Hal Hopson, Hope Publishing # C5194
This was a very happy, upbeat learning experience enjoyed by all.
