Christmas 2001

Dear Members,

Here we are, scurrying around again in a maize of preparations for the coming Christmas Season.

Fall has been especially busy with the production of "five" Hymn Festivals.

We would like to express our thanks to all those who worked so diligently to make the Festivals such a tremendous success!

Ecumenical Hymn Festivals:

Sept.30th Knox- St. Paul's United, Cornwall

Oct. 14th St. Thomas, Anglican, Belleville

Oct. 14th St. James Anglican, Perth

Oct. 21st Wall St. United, Brockville

Nov. 4th Grace United, Napanee

Proceeds of these Hymn Festivals go toward the RSCM Summer School 2002.
The total collection from the five Hymn Festivals amounted to $1,495.80. This will help greatly with the publicity costs for the Summer School.

Our Executive met on Nov.12th at MacKay United Church, Ottawa. We were able to show the proofs of our Summer School Promotional Pamphlet which met with grand approval. A few minor alterations were made before going into the final printing.

The promotional pamphlets are on glossy paper, gold and white print on a royal blue background with colored scenes of Brockville...a very attractive and attention getting pamphlet.

Five thousand of them will be sent out all over North America to various churches and musical centres.

We still have, for your perusal, a library of sample copies of choral anthems that has been constantly updated and is now freshly sorted into Easy and Moderate divisions. We have a very good selection of easy anthems for small choirs with a good proportion of Canadian items and also, many works from elsewhere. There is also a box of Moderately Easy Cantatas.

All the best for a great season of Church Music Making. Hope to see you at one of our Branch's Spring Events and the RSCM Summer School!

As Shelley says:

"Music, when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory."

Wishing you Peace and Love at Christmas Time and a Wonderful, Musical New Year!
