Governments
(The Factions)

Though Imperialistic, the ruling government the
"Terran Alliance" is often seen as one of the kinder more
benevolent governments in the universe. Rarely caught off guard the Terran
fleets have been involved in almost every peacekeeping operation ever
mounted. ____________________________ Info: Main species: Human (Terran) |

The power structure of this government is
a constantly shifting tangle of alliances. Special rules have
been established over long centuries to ensure that the government never
entirely collapses despite rapid fluctuations in the
leadership. ____________________________ Info: Main species: Kavarian, |

Formally called 'The Dominion of Aligned Houses'
this is often shortened to just The Dominion. ____________________________ Info: Main species: Droall. |

The largest and eventually the single most powerful
Faction, the Republic has existed for millennia. Most citizens enjoy
a nearly unparalleled level of peace and prosperity. Military
training of all citizens is standard, and when called upon nearly the
entire populace can be mobilized in a matter of weeks. ____________________________ Info: Main species: Human (Republic). |

This otherwise peaceful nation has the
misfortune of being located near the "Northern" edge of faction
space placing them in the path of any invasion by the
Neeran. ____________________________ Info: Main species: Shall'na. |

Formed as a loose band of the top six pirate
groups in frontier space this group grew to enormous size near the end of
the "Golden Age" of peace. They were to be used as a
target in an attempt to stabilize the failing Old Alliance by
concentrating on a single enemy. ____________________________ Info: Main species present in local Space: Various. |

Formed in 4025 to
represent the combined interests of the mercenary, pirate, and smuggler
guilds by allying with the Pandora Cluster Combined Government (P.C.C.G.).
This new coalition gave the Privateers a significant voice in the reformed
Alliance Government during the Twenty Years War. Even after the wars
the Coalition remained a powerful force, controlling the crossroads of the
known universe. ____________________________ Info: Main species: None / Various. |

| Pandora Cluster Combined Government (P.C.C.G.) | Formed in 3002 in an attempt to pacify the various elements in the Pandora Cluster in the wake of the Faction wars. The P.C.C.G. is responsible for the protection of Cargo convoys in the Pandora Galaxy cluster and are considered a neutral power. |

The Old Alliance: Formed in 2975 as a combined counsel between the Major powers at that time to stop infighting and allow exploration and expansion out from the core regions. The Alliance broke apart during the Faction Wars and was re-established as an alliance between the Terran, Republic, Rovinar and Krath Governments against the Kavarian Imperium. The Dominion of Houses and Kavarian Government joined the Alliance at the end of the wars. Through hard work and determination the member governments were able to maintain the Alliance for nearly 1000 years. |

The Reformed Alliance Government: Formed in 4025 at the start of the Third Dark War to replace the old government which had fallen into decay and corruption. This government dealt only with civilian matters while the Alliance Military became an entirely separate entity. The Alliance Military: Formed in 4025 to defend the member states of the Alliance
from invasion and assist in armed exploration of the outer-rim. With the
incredible losses sustained by the Member states during the Twenty Years
War, the Alliance Military was left as the only power possessing Super
Heavy Cruisers. The Alliance Military has access to almost any
advanced technology ever conceived but locks most of it away to prevent
the member states from getting hold of it. There have been several
occasions where Alliance Black Ops have raided the R&D facilities of
member states to prevent completion of new technologies. |

The Krath government acts as an information
brokering center for most of the Factions. They are traditionally
neutral in most conflicts but sometimes are drawn in. Much to the
displeasure of those involved. ____________________________ Info: Main species present in local Space: Krath, Rovinar. |

| The exact government structure of the Light
Neeran is not known or certain. Studies of the Dark Neeran have
given people to believe that the "Light Ones" have a sort of telepathic
counsel that helps to guide their decisions. ____________________________ Info: Main species present in local Space: Light Neeran, Various. |

The Dark Neeran are ruled over by a counsel of
the wisest and most powerful of their species. It is their job to
choose and help guide a leader, normally the most brilliant telepath that
can be found. The giant Valas Ssapriina Orthian was one of the longest serving leaders chosen by the counsel and was the architect of the Third Dark War. ____________________________ Info: Main species present in local Space: Dark Neeran, Various. |

Formed in 4451 as the counterpart to the HAN
Preventors. This group was treated as a terrorist organization
until their victory of the Preventors in 4478 which allowed the
establishment of a full government. The Alliance Recognized the government
soon after it's formation. They have strong ties to the Privateer Coalition. ____________________________ Info: Main species present in local Space: Nekonian, Human, Various. |

Formed by Quen Han in 4370 to wipe out
the Nekonians which he saw as an impending threat to humanity. It is
viewed as rather ironic by most people that the Preventor attempts to
exterminate the species caused them to unite against this common enemy,
becoming the very threat Quen was trying to prevent. The
Preventors draw most of their strength from the Republic, where part of
the military is sympathetic to their cause. Most preventor equipment is
bought as surplus from the Republic military. After the defeat
of the HAN Preventor main forces in 4478 the organization split into
separate elements which only rarely communicate. They are still
considered a major terrorist threat. ____________________________ Main species present in Organisation: Human (Republic) |

| Extremists | Making up the vast majority of the ranks of the Preventors are the extremists, usually willing to give their life to kill even one of their enemy. While sometimes suicidal, those recruited are intelligent enough to bide their time in serving the organization in a lager operations. There are at least 12 separate Extremist elements each with considerable resources. Some elements have more than 100 cruiser grade ships. While the separate elements don't communicate they will help other Preventor ships that are in distress. |
| Conservatives | Promoting containment of the Nekonians rather than extermination. They number less than ten percent of that of the extremists in the organization. A totally separate Conservative element formed in the wake of the destruction of the main forces. The Conservatives have access to formidable resources within the Republic but almost none in the the rest of the universe. |
