About Us

Chess Kennels (permanently registered), located in Maitland, Ontario, Canada has been breeding and exhibiting Scottish Terriers since 1969. The first, 'Dory', was purchased in 1968 and produced one puppy who became a Canadian champion who in turn produced our first Canadian/American champion. Since then, the kennel has produced multiple Best in Show, multiple terrier group, National Specialty Best of Breed and sweepstakes winners. A puppy sent to the Czech Republic became an International champion in 2000.
We are proud members of the Canadian Scottish Terrier Club, the Scottish Terrier Club of America, the Scottish Terrier Club (England) and the Rideau Terrier Club.
